Yeah, debates matter (and this last one more than the average one) but probably not as much as it feels.
Opening Day in baseball is a big thing, festivities and all that. But at the end of the day it's one game. I'd much rather win opening day than lose (1-0 > 0-1) but in a 162 game season, it doesn't matter much.
This debate, given the concerns people have, I'd say is more than one game. The team's star player went 0-4 with 4 strikeouts and looked lost, so to speak. People are worried, but I'm not sure how much it impacts things long term - as long as that star player returns somewhat to their previous form

I'm not sure the very public chatter of replacing him during the past few days has been particularly helpful.
